The "Love Food Hate Waste Show" was commissioned by Kent County Council to deliver in primary schools. Waste watch in turn commissioned Shirley to make the props. The tight deadline shaped the overall design, a slapstick panto style. The props were to be designed and built between Christmas and New Year 2007.

The brief required the props be manageable by one person, fit in a limited space for transport and be robust enough to handle several shows a day over a 3 month period.

Most of the props were made out of cardboard with the main backdrop being made from paneled fencing and hardboard. The shop facade swivels on discs to become the kitchen facade. All the props are designed to be double sided as they will be used by both performers and the audience. The show and original props are still in use, autumn term 2010.
